Greyhound Compassion Support to the UK

Greyhound Compassion collaborates with Greyhound Rescue (Boston, Lincolnshire)  where possible in the following ways:

· Greyhound sponsorship
· Greyhound rehoming
· Providing funding for the development of the Greyhound Rescue shelter.

Greyhound Compassion is sponsoring poor blind Duke: #image1#

It seemed like fate that Greyhound Rescue went to visit a greyhound breeding kennels on other business, when they first saw Duke.  The words spoken from the head kennel girl were, "do you know anyone who would take a one eyed, blind, 11 week old pup?"  Well, need we say anymore?  Duke was immediately picked up, bundled into the car and taken to the Greyhound Rescue house.  He has now become an addition to the Rescue's house.

Time has gone by and Duke has grown into a handsome dog. There's never been a dull moment and always plenty of mischief to get up to!

Still on all his treatments this year, lovely Duke is managing very well with his joint problems.  Every three weeks the vet visits to give him his injection for his mobility, coinciding with pills this treatment is working well.  We always insist the same vet comes out every time and so Duke has got to know her and quietly accepts his needle and always now finds time to show off afterwards before the vet leaves.  His character is unbelievably happy and cheeky.  He likes to tease our other house dog, Purdy, insisting he shows her all his toys at least twice a day and any chews he's given have to be shown to Purdy before they are eaten, as if to say, "look what I've got".  Purdy is not at all amused by this little show off but gracefully puts up with him.  As many people know, Duke will stay at the rescue all his life because of his blindness etc..  So many thanks to his supporters.  We really think that when things are upsetting at this rescue, it's Duke who keeps us going.  We can always rely on him to pull something out of the bag to make us smile.  He's a very special boy.

Duke will remain a sponsored dog because Greyhound Rescue will never re-home him.  He is where he knows best and obviously much loved.

If you would like to contribute towards the sponsorship, please contact us  or donate on-line.

Hounds for Rehoming

Ali and Sandy also reside at Greyhound Rescue's shelter in Boston, Lincolnshire.  Ali is a brindle male and had been in a family home with his companion Sandy (a fawn bitch) for 5 years.  We feel very sorry for this pair, Ali was quiet at first but happily Sandy didn't seem to care about going into kennels. They have settled in very well now, but after what they have been through, they need to be re-homed together if not they do not stay with Greyhound Rescue for life.   If you could offer Ali and Sandy or any of their fellow retirees a forever home, please let us know
