Ticks, Tickles & DIY

A group of 7 Greyhound Compassion volunteers have just returned from a working visit to Scooby

Our task was to coax the nervous galgos recently rescued from a cruel dog collector in Sevilla who had neglected the dogs.  Many of them had arrived at Scooby without a hair on their body.  Now they are looking in better shape but are still nervous of humans no matter how gentle the touch.  We spent our time trying to gain their confidence and get them used to sympathetic humans.  At the same time we administered tick treatment as the tick season is starting.

As for the DIY jobs, Scooby is installing a visitor centre which will provide basic sleeping accommodation for volunteer visitors, kitchen and bathroom facilities and a common room.  We installed cupboards, repaired the electricity and water heater, and painted the interior.

We left the shelter feeling pleased with another contribution towards Scooby's development and the comfort of the galgos.
