Poor Blind Duke

Greyhound Compassion is sponsoring poor blind Duke who will stay permanently in the care of Greyhound Rescue in Boston, Lincolnshire. Meet Duke:

It seemed like fate that Greyhound Rescue went to visit a greyhound breeding kennels on other business, when they first saw Duke.  The words spoken from the head kennel girl were, "do you know anyone who would take a one eyed, blind, 11 week old pup?"  Well, need we say anymore?  Duke was immediately picked up, bundled into the car and taken to the Greyhound Rescue house.  He has now become an addition to the Rescue's house.  Of course with Duke being blind his other senses are stronger to compensate for his disability.  He quickly found where all the furniture was placed, his feed bowl etc. and amazingly enough he walked around everything.  Hiding places for human slippers, jackets etc. were quickly discovered and taken to his bed.

Things placed on tables and units are no secret to Duke.  No matter how quickly you hid things, immediately he knew.  His great fun is to wait while humans go out so he can gather objects thought to be well hidden away and place them where he feels fit!

Time has gone by and Duke is a very funny 25 week old pup.  There's never been a dull moment and always plenty of mischief to get up to!

Greyhound Rescue recently moved to Boston and his carers were concerned how Duke would cope but he has found more exciting games like 'Hide and Seek', which is great fun in the big garden when the humans want you indoors!  The bushes are ideal for 'Chase Me Charlie'.  He certainly loves his games and his life.

Duke will remain a sponsored dog because Greyhound Rescue will never re-home him.  He is where he knows best and obviously much loved.

If you would like to contribute towards the sponsorship, please let us know or feel free to make a donation on-line
