Work-out at Scooby Shelter

Work-out at Scooby ShelterEight volunteers have just returned from a working visit to the Scooby shelter.  There are about 450 dogs in residence and the majority are galgos, all very good natured and affectionate.  There was one poor galgo bitch with both front legs broken.  A Scooby worker had found her in the motorway.  The legs were in plaster and she is gradually on the mend.  She was starting to steadily get up and move around towards the end of the group's visit.

The volunteers generally spent time cleaning out the dogs each morning and then sorting out store cupboards and the medical store each afternoon. The group included some DIY experts and a professional builder and they started on building two new rooms.  One will be a puppy clinic for rescued galgo puppies and one will be a "common room" for volunteers because the existing kitchen where they congregate has outgrown its use now.

We were also able to see the finished shading over the galgo enclosures funded by Greyhound Compassion.  This was particularly pleasing because after so many aborted attempts with different materials, Scooby now has some shading which will work.
