GC Attends Scooby's 20th Anniversary

Greyhound Compassion was honoured to be invited to the 20th anniversary celebrations of the Scooby shelter. The birthday party was organised by the Tornados and took place in Vlamertinge on 31 August.
Luckily we were blessed with sunshine. Supporters came from far and wide with their galgos, all of whom had been rescued by Scooby. It was breathtaking to see so many galgos now living the life of luxury far away from the squalor they must have endured in the hands of their hunter owners before being rescued. It was lovely to see them walk gracefully together on the dog walk after lunch.
Scooby's partner organisations came from Germany, France, Holland, Switzerland, USA and Canada in support of the event. Between us we were selling lots of greyhound merchandise in aid of Scooby. Together we raised about 5,000 Euros for the benefit of the shelter.
Not only were we blessed with sunshine, we were also very lucky to have Maria Daines and Paul Killington perform some of their very touching songs during the afternoon. There wasn't a dry eye in the house as the lyrics went straight to the heart of animal welfare.
Greyhound Compassion is very grateful to the 3-women team from Tornados for organising such a mammoth event, which was enjoyed by everyone. It really was great to see all of those rescued dogs together in very safe and loving hands.
Happy birthday Scooby! With the very best of wishes we hope that we will not have to celebrate in another 20 years. We would like to think that in the course of the next 20 years your doors will close because the need for a rescue shelter becomes redundant.
